Ordering Custom Stickers Online – Things to Keep in Mind

Stickers can do a lot to promote your brand. Unlike catalogues and brochures you do not need to get stickers printed in thousands. You can order as few as 10 stickers and they do not have to be the same. You can have 10 different designs in one sheet. Variety is possible when you order custom stickers online but when you do, keep a few things in mind.

Where you propose to use the sticker

Stickers can be affixed on packages, on bottles and also on windows and on cars. Where you propose to use the sticker dictates the choice of sticker substrate. Paper works for indoor use but vinyl is so much better. It does not tear and, when the right grade is used, it will last for years. If you propose to use the sticker outdoors then you will want the printer to use UV resistant vinyl and UV resistant inks otherwise the colours fade within just a couple of months.

Size

Let us say your design size is about 50 mm x 50 mm. It proves to be more expensive should you order individual stickers 50mmx50mm in size. The smart thing to do is to select a large size in which you put repeats of the same design or, better still, create variations of the same design with the same message or create altogether different designs. Order just one large A3 size sheet and you will find it will accommodate a number of designs within the sheet besides working out to be lower in cost. You can reduce or adjust size of your design to fit a certain number in a standard A4 or A3 sheet and thus save on costs.

Colour scheme

Do you want your design to be quite noticeable? If so, then choose complementary colour scheme for font and graphics. Complementary colours are colours that are on the opposite sides of the colour wheel and contrast markedly against each other, such as red and cyan or yellow and blue.

Font

This could be the greatest headache. You use font that you have in your computer system and upload the design only to find that because the printer’s system does not have the same font the whole design changes. Use Coreldraw to create your vector artwork and include graphics and images by all means but make sure you convert fonts to curves when you upload the design while ordering custom stickers online.

Kiss cut and die cut

It is worthwhile knowing about these two terms. Die cut means the sticker is cut through the sticker as well as the backing. You may choose oval, round, rectangular or square shape for die cut and that will be the shape of your final sticker. You may want the cut to follow the design outline, which is also possible with die cut stickers but peeling off the backing can be difficult. Kisses cut stickers, on the other hand, only cut the border of the sticker and leave the backing sheet intact. Peeling off stickers is easy, especially if you have multiple sticker designs on a single sheet.
